Central Air Not Cooling Well?

Hi all! Thanks for taking the time to read this. As of right now it is about 80 outside and about 80 inside although my thermostat is set on 73. It seems to be blowing cool airm not cold but very, and I mean very, little air is coming out of the vents. Now I did some reading on line and the outside fan is working it is blowing warm out at a pretty good pace. The insulation is off in a few spots but checked the copper pipe and it is cold. When I squeezed the black insulation it wrang out water…not sure if that is normal. Just changed the filter and it was a little dirty but not bad. The unit is older (like 15 years) but worked fine last summer. Had a new a-coil put in 4 years ago and cleaned last year. The system seems to be about 90% of the time catching up at night where when we wake up it matches the set temperature. What is the matter with this thing? Oh yeah it is under the deck and clear of debris. Thanks so much for all your help!!

Not a HVAC tech but I think it’s going to be involved since you say you have SOME cool air? If you have a digital IR thermometer check the exact temp at the intake then at the nearest vent. SHould be about a 15 degree drop. If it’s no drop at all, then you might be able to look at some stuff yourself (if you are handy and safe with electricity). If you have a drop, but less than 15 degrees you’ll probably need a tech because how else are you going to check pressure, etc.? You need guages, freon, n’ !@#$ :)
