Arc Stick Welder

What’s the difference between an arc and stick welder? ?

My Fiance wants a new welder for Christmas and im clueless. Someone said a stick and arc are the same, is that true? Also I’m on a budget so if they pretty much work the same but one runs cheaper let me know, Thank you!

Both are terms used for SMAW which is shielded metal Arc Welding. Best thing to do is get him to show you what he wants at Lowes or Home Depot.
