Ctrl Kit
Ctrl Kit

Is there a software tool to scan your systems processes?
Whenever my system is slow I “ctrl+alt+del” it to look at what processes are running and then go about Googling suspect ones to see if I can do without them slowing my computer down. I know I can look at add/remove programs but that doesn’t always show some of the offending items. Is there a piece of kit I can run that will alert me to the dodgy things that are clogging my computer up… I have Ccleaner, I run software that checks up on what starts when my comp starts and I have all the ad-aware stuff – just in case you suggest that. Cheers.
Thanks Pierre but I know that. I want to not have to manually check the many many processes to identify which ones are dodgy. I want something to do it for me.
There are a number of free tools available that can help you assess what processes are running on your system; use one that you find easy to understand and configure
Process Scanner (opens results in browser: seems to work best if your default browser is internet explorer)

Process viewer

Taskpatrol Personal

Process Explorer

For programmes that start with windows:
Startup Inspector

For security monitoring of your system, there’s a programme called Cyberhawk

or PcPal

both are free but just try one at a time!
