Studio Lighting Kits?

In your opinion, which is the best kind of studio lighting kit brand for a small simple studio?

For video I use 750w Altman lights from a theatre store. They are HOT lights and they are 3200k. I use them for photo as well… They were around 400 for a pair. Plenty of power and they are Fresnel so you can adjust them from spotlight to more broad(softer). Pretty nifty. Check out www.tythaartist.com on the right side the flickr section.

I also use a daylight 6 flourescent light bank from ebay. I bought it from Amvona, but I’m sure the other brands will be just as good. If you want continuous, make sure the bulbs have a high CRI for good color.

For photo i also use a Canon 580ex2 flash.

I don’t have softboxes in my collection but i’ve heard those brands are pretty good, but then again I’ve seen good DIY lighting kits as well.. It’s more about how you use it. Go flicker free and high CRI and you should be fine.
