ok there are two different types of “welders” i believe There is electric and then gas torch welding i believe the mixing of oxygen gas and mapp or propane gas. can you actually use the Gas Welding tool, as “like” an Electric Welder. Does the gas torch welder weld “melt” the metal together just like the electric one does? Cause on some of the gas ones ive been looking at it says brazing cutting and Welding Torch. And then on some of them it say welds soldier which i dont get cause i thought it was just called soldiering

Ok, where to start. You have alot of info confused.

There are many different “types” of welding, generally consisting of different types of materials and rods.

Gas welding for the most part isn’t used, as it was outdated like 40 years ago when Electric Welding came out. I have never gas welding but my father used to and you use oxy/accetlyn mixture, accetlyn being the hottest burning gas.

Im not really sure what you are looking at, but generally you can buy a B tank that is filled with accetlyn and a Turbo Torch set up for soldering/brazing (or a cheaper set up from home depot that is mapp gas or propane) but if you wanted to gas weld you would need a large oxy/accetlyn set up with pressure gauges and gas Welding Tip.

Long story short, yes gas welding can replace most SMAW (shielded metal Arc Welding) applications, if you have the proper set up.
