Torch Cutting Welding

would this idea work? what skills would i need?

I was thinking it would be awesome to get a bunch of cars off of people’s property (ones they don’t want) and build a new car out of parts from the old ones. would this idea work?
It would be a project that would take a long time, but i just wanna know if it could be done
What I want to do is take some old cars with steel bodies and take the metal from the bodies to make a new body for a car (I’m good with a Cutting Torch, good at welding, and alright with shaping metal).
then i want to take different cars’ engines, suspensions, stereo systems, furniture (maybe I’ll get lucky and get a caddy), etc. and make an awesome new car out of it.
so
1. would this idea work?
2. what skills would i need to do it?
3. ideas on how to find people with cars they don’t want?

I got more ideas with what to do with the rest of the car parts, but I’ll post those in my next question

Certainly it’s possible.

But junk yards (auto recycling centers) buy junk cars and sell any useable parts from them, so you would be competing with them. If you offer to tow them away free, you would find some who give you the cars.

Engine, with all the computers and pollution control equipment will be difficult.

Licensing the finished car may well be impossible. I’d ask at the auto forum about that, or check with your DMV registry.
