Turning Roll
What color to sharks eyes roll back to?
My friend and I are in a debate about it. I say the sharks eyes start black and when they roll back they turn white… my friend says they change to black… So Is it white or black?
Well to start not all sharks do that.
Sharks close their eyelids to keep them safe when they are feeding or fighting, however not all sharks have the ability to do that and those that do cannot close them all the way like your or I.
To counter that some have kinda a third eyelid that is called a nictitating membrane that can cover it completely to protect their eyes.
Like I said, the sharks that do not have the ability to close lids they can however roll their eyes into the back of the head. For the most part they roll back to better protect the vital parts. When that occurs it goes white. White sharks are the most well known ones for rolling their eyes.
HOWEVER they do not always do that and like I said not all species do it. Thus you can find photos of white sharks that are “attacking” that still have those wondrous dark eyes.
