300zx 2+2 tt swap? Help?
Ok so I bought a 1990 2+2 N/A and I wanna upgrade it to the twin turbo engine. I seen some engines on ebay that sell for around $1500 with tranny and Ecu. can I buy that engine and do the swap? I know I well need the hoses and intercoolers, but every time I look up this swap I hear people saying you need the front clip? what does that mean do I need to weld the front of another 300zx or what I dont get that please explain to me what the front clip means? Cant I just buy the engine of ebay and swap it like that, without buying the front clip? thanks for your questions….
A car cut in half from Japan is a clip good way to get many of the inter cooler parts and front bumper cover with gill slits for the inter cooler. The other alternative is a center mounted inter cooler that will involve some plastic cutting. You are about to do almost $10,000 work to your 300ZX wouldn’t it be easier to just go out and buy a Twin Turbo car? I have done 4 complete na to TT conversions the last one 2 years ago and some parts are obsolete now and very hard to get. Inter cooler boost hard pipes narrow A/C condenser and you will want a better that stock Radiator and oil coolers rebuild the turbos too. It is easy to get carried away but upgraded part to squeeze out over 400 hp but that can kill the old stock motor so be careful boosting over 11 psi. You will not hear the detonation just see the smoke when you melt a piston… Good Luck
