Question for you Tig welders…..?
How can i create/sustain an arc when starting to weld?
I usually maintain the torch at a 90/70 degree angle and ease it towards the metal, but it doesn’t create the arc instantly or at all. And sometimes sticks to the Tungsten.
And how can i maintain the shielding gas at a proper level to prevent sparks?
Turn up your heat and have the tungsten stick out a bout 1/8″.
The shield gas depends on the wind where you are.
If it’s windy then use an Oxygen Regulator for more flow.
Setting the gas flow is trial and error mostly.
If you are welding aluminum with High Frequency then you want your tungsten to have a little ball not sharp.
When sharpening a Tungsten have the grinder marks run lengthwise to the tungsten.
Bottom line: always adjust your machine before welding.
