Hobart stickmate 225/160 wire size? My stickmate came with 15 ft of lead and 10 ft of ground cable..?

Hobart stickmate 225/160 wire size? My stickmate came with 15 ft of lead and 10 ft of ground cable.. Id like to have atleast 40 ft of lead and 40 ft of ground cable.. The wire size was #4 that came with the welding machine so thinking if I lengthen the leads I should get thicker wire such as #2? So someone please comment on whether the #4 wire is ok to leave on welding machine and I just add the extra feet to make working lead and ground lead 40 feet each. Or do I add #2 welding wire with the 40 feet each on working and ground leads? Things that Im worried about by adding length is voltage drop, burning up wire due to too small of wire.. Please comment..

it is cheaper on the electric bill to run a longer input cable like 8/3, this being the 220 volt service cable to the machine. You can buy already made extensions in 25ft and 50ft lengths. If you want to run longer leads, go with the #2 so not to shorten the life of the welder transformer with all the extra heat the #4 will produce.
