How long does it take for bank wire from Canada to USA?

I think i’ve been scammed. I bankwired 1000 dollars on saturday. The bank worker said it’ll take 1 week to get there.

Could I cancel the payment in the process?

and… is there a chance the bankwired money will get there by monday (tomorrow)? it’s victoria day here, and the bank closes.

I need to cancel the payment on tuesday. I hope I won’t be too late.

Also, is there a possibility of stopping this online? Thanks.

The actual transferring of funds through a bank wire can only take place during regular business hours. Anything set up on a saturday is outside of ‘regular business hours… and since monday is a holiday here in Canada, nothing will happen with this wire transfer until tuesday morning. After that it will take a few business days to get to its destination and be accepted and dealt with… so a week is a good estimate of time. The receiving party may see the monies as early as friday. It might be possible to cancel the process if you contact the band branch where you set up the wire transfer if you call the moment they open for business on tuesday, but be prepared to be out of luck. They may have already forwarded info to head office.
